The search for Dr. Chace Anderson’s successor is over.

In a unanimous vote on March 6, the Wayzata School Board selected Dr. Robb Virgin to serve as the district's next Superintendent. Virgin, who currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education in Eden Prairie, will officially take the helm on July 1, 2026.

Why Dr. Virgin?

The Board's decision follows a national search that narrowed down to three final candidates. For Board members who spent the last several weeks in intensive interviews, the choice came down to finding a leader who could maintain Wayzata's #1 ranking while navigating the complexities of a 13,000-student district.

Dr. Virgin is a familiar face in the Lake Conference. Before his time in Eden Prairie, he served as the principal of Eden Prairie High School and has a deep background in curriculum development and student engagement.

The Transition Timeline

Dr. Chace Anderson isn't leaving just yet. He will continue to lead the district through the end of the school year, providing a three-month overlap to ensure a smooth handoff at the Creekside Building.

For parents and taxpayers, this transition represents the first major leadership shift for the district in nearly two decades. Anderson’s 18-year tenure saw massive infrastructure growth—including the construction of Meadow Ridge and Northwoods—leaving Virgin with a high bar to clear.

What to Expect:

  • March – June: Dr. Virgin will begin "onboarding" sessions with the Board and Dr. Anderson.
  • July 1, 2026: Official start date for the new administration.
