Council Member Clark Gregor Announces Run for Mayor
The race for Plymouth's highest local office has officially begun.
Incumbent Plymouth City Council Member Clark Gregor has formally announced his candidacy for Mayor, declaring his bid ahead of the official municipal filing window that opens on July 14. Gregor, who has served on the council since 2022 and has deep roots on city commissions dating back to 2017, released a statement outlining a vision centered on community preservation and economic accessibility.
"I love this city," Gregor stated. "But there are challenges we haven't fully tackled yet: seniors who want to stay in the community they've built but can't find the right housing options, young people who want to put down roots here but can't make it work."
Gregor’s platform focuses heavily on expanding affordable housing, fostering sustainable economic development, reinforcing public safety infrastructure, and protecting local environmental assets.
His entry sets the stage for a highly watched election cycle as the city continues to navigate its comprehensive 2050 Master Plan.
2. Traffic Alert
Chankahda Trail Reaches Critical Stage 3A Closures
If your daily commute cuts across northern Plymouth, it's time to adjust your GPS.
The ongoing multi-million dollar Chankahda Trail Reconstruction Project has advanced into Stage 3A, triggering a total road closure between Yucca Lane and Northwest Boulevard. Construction crews are currently onsite executing full utility spot replacements, trail grading, and asphalt base prep.

According to the City Public Works Department, this section of Chankahda Trail will remain entirely closed to through-traffic until late July, at which point crews will pivot to Stage 3B (Cheshire Parkway to Yucca Lane). Neighborhood detours are fully signed, and residents living directly within the construction zone are being provided modified access maps to reach their driveways.
