In Minnesota, the arrival of March doesn't just mean melting snow - it means the return of the Friday Night Fish Fry. Whether you are observing Lent or simply hunting for the best fried cod and community atmosphere in the West Metro, several local parishes are hosting their traditional dinners through early April.

🐟 Where to Catch a Friday Dinner

While many local restaurants offer Friday specials, the heart of the tradition lies in our community centers and church halls. Most dinners run from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

  • Holy Name of Jesus (Plymouth/Medina): Known for one of the largest turnouts in the area, their "Fish Fry Fridays" offer both dine-in and take-out options. It’s a great spot to meet neighbors in a high-energy, friendly environment. Visit HNOJ.org
  • St. Bartholomew (Wayzata): A local favorite featuring hand-battered fish, baked potatoes, and homemade coleslaw. Their events often support local youth missions and community outreach. Visit St-Barts.org
  • St. Joseph Catholic Community (New Hope): Just a short drive from east Plymouth, St. Joe’s is famous for its generous portions and welcoming volunteer staff. Visit StJoeNewHope.org

🗓️ How Long Does It Last?

These events typically occur every Friday evening through March 27, 2026. Some locations may have a final "grand finale" dinner on April 3, but it is always best to check the specific parish calendar as Holy Week approaches.

Why It Matters

Beyond the food, these dinners are a "Cultural Spotlight" of their own. They represent a long-standing West Metro tradition of hospitality, volunteerism, and multi-generational gathering.
